With their combination of striking architecture, impeccable service and unique location, Andalusias deluxe hotels are travel destinations in their own right.
Andalusia is blessed with a particularly large number of top class hotels, and more are scheduled to be opened. Be it a restored palace in a city, a stylish white oasis next to the sea or a luxurious mansion in the country, they all offer unbeatable comfort, professional service and fine gourmet food. Some of them are in a class of their own, hotels which for their unique setting, services, cuisine and ambience are travel destinations in their own right.
Imagine, for example, an Andalusian fantasy palace in the middle of an enormous hunting estate surrounded by holm oak and olive trees, miles from the nearest town. La Bobadilla is just that, a white village standing in the heart of the countryside between Granada and Malaga, where the pampered guests can spend leisurely hours walking, horse back riding, or enjoying fine food at one of the hotels two acclaimed restaurants. This is where film stars and royalty go when they need to get away from it all.
An equally seductive combination of fine taste and vision has been applied at another signal establishment, Hacienda Benazuza, near Seville. This quietly elegant hotel is installed in an historic building which was once a country manor presiding a large farming estate devoted to olive oil. The hacienda, part of which dates from 10th century, is surrounded by gardens, and within the visitor finds cool courtyards where tall palm trees sway, and a decor which is a mixture of sumptuous detail and rustic touches. As for the restaurant, it has become one of Andalusias most fashionable places to eat, and is set to become even prestigious with the talent of celebrity chef Ferran Adria, who has designed the menu to include some of his outstandingly innovative creations.
Where Andalusian style is the theme at Hacienda Benazuza, an ambience of cosmopolitan flair prevails at La Cala Resort, a favourite destination for golfers and sun-seekers.
This hotel is only a few miles from the beach on the Costa del Sol, but feels as if it were another world. The attractive atmosphere of the hotel is complemented by the design of the two 18-hole golf courses: immaculately manicured fairways and greens are surrounded by swathes of the original herb-scented wild Mediterranean shrubbery which has always grown here, a layout which is visually striking and environmentally correct. This is the Spanish headquarters of the prestigious David Leadbetter Golf Academy. As for the hotel itself, its bright rooms with picture windows and terraces overlooking the fairways, and the equally light, welcoming common areas are conducive to a relaxed, carefree stay. Just what you expect from yet another of the many top class hotels of Andalusia.
